Afscheid nemen bestaat wel -1

Shiri is inmiddels een maand dood. Om exact te zijn is het 4 weken en 1 dag geleden dat we Shiri moesten laten inslapen. En ik moet het even kwijt, hoe dat allemaal ging en was.

Het leek even beter te gaan met hem. Nadat de dierenarts had vastgesteld dat zijn nieren stuk waren, hadden we hem 3 dagen bij hen achtergelaten. Drie dagen waarin hij medicijnen kreeg,  hem vocht werd toegediend en hij in een kleine kooi zichzelf verder moest zien te redden.

Doodstil was hij toen we hem mee terug namen in de auto. Hij stonk naar zieke kat en medicijnen. Zijn poten hadden kale plekken, waar ze zijn haar hadden weggeschoren om het infuus te kunnen plaatsen.

Eenmaal thuis verstopte hij zich eerst voor ons. Maar toen hij zeker wist dat we hem niet meer weg zouden sturen, kroop hij zo dicht hij als hij kon bij ons. Hij was zo opgelucht om weer thuis te zijn dat hij zijn warme lijfje zo dicht mogelijk tegen mijn buik aandrukte.

Dat was ook het moment dat het kwijlen begon.
